My passion is photographing the ocean. After living inland for most of my life I moved to the coast of Cornwall where I am able to respond to the moods of the ocean as each day dawns. From gentle waves to raging storms, the ocean speaks with many voices. I endeavour to capture this diversity in my images by freezing the unseen, arresting the ephemeral and exploring the transient world revealed by the tides.

“The ocean speaks with many voices.”

As I try to evoke the beauty of the colours, textures and forms of the ocean, I also reflect on the impact from human activity. It can be disheartening and difficult to maintain hope when we continue to relentlessly plunder the oceans and dump our waste into its waters. I take some solace from minimising my own impact.

"We are the ones who can ultimately dictate permanent and lasting change. This will occur when each of us feels inspired to make small changes in our lifestyle choices that collectively create a positive effect on the health of our oceans." - Bryant Austin

The ocean is an infinite source of inspiration, with unbounded possibilities for interpretation. To explore these possibilities is my 'ikigai'.
